We joyfully welcome those seeking baptism at our parish. Pope Francis has beautifully described Baptism as the sacrament that “….gives us new birth in Christ, makes us sharers in the mystery of his death and resurrection, grants the forgiveness of sin, and brings us new freedom as God’s children and members of his Church…Our baptism has also given us a share in the Church’s mission of evangelization; as disciples, we are also missionaries.”
- It is necessary to have at least one godparent. There are times when parents can choose one Catholic godparent and then one Christian witness, who is a practicing member of a protestant religion.
- Godparents need to obtain a Letter of Eligibility from the parish in which they are currently registered and participating, stating that they meet the aforementioned criteria.
- Parents are expected to attend one preparation session before the baptism of their first child.
